Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Chemist I to join our extractables and leachables testing team in Bend, OR. Your primary responsibility is to support laboratory operations by conducting analytical chemistry testing in a cGMP environment. An ideal candidate is comfortable working in a lab setting, has strong attention to detail, a “first time right” mentality, and is supportive of coworkers. In this position, there are many opportunities for developing analytical skills and for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Perform sample preparation (e.g. LLE, SPE, Derivatization)
- Perform standards and solution preparation
- Perform and lead extractions and sampling
- Perform basic measurements such as pH, NVR, and TOC
- Data analysis, instrument set up, and review of GC-MS, HDSP-MS, and/or LC-MS
- Create, revise, and review controlled procedures and participate in the continuous improvement of our Quality System
- Follow regulatory requirements, applicable internal methods, protocols, and SOPs
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field is required. Coursework in instrumental/analytical chemistry is preferred
- A high attentional to detail and ability to work independently is required
- The Chemist I is an entry-level professional position with responsibility to provide laboratory support functions. As a result, hands-on laboratory experience is required and can be met by active participation in laboratory courses and research at the university level
